Doctorin’ the Tardis

27 Mar

I was wandering GoodWill yesterday searching for items to cosplay as Jayne for the upcoming con I am going to.  I was browsing through clothes when this song came on the radio.  For a while, I thought I was going crazy and imaging things because the lyrics seemed to be “Doctor Whooooo, the Tardis”.  I had talked myself out of it, thinking I was just hearing things when the Doctor Who theme music can on in the song as part of the song.  I stopped in my tracks and was quite confused.  Why in the hell was this playing in, of all places, a Good Will?  Maybe someone snuck in and changed the station or plugged in their iPod?  The song afterwards was “What if God Was One of Us”, so I think it was just a regular station. Don’t get me wrong, it amused the hell out, but it also weirded me out and made me think I was imagining it for a while.

The song itself is called “Doctorin’ the Tardis” and was made by The Timelords (their only song) in 1988.  It seems odd, that such an old song would be on a somewhat poppy/modern station.  Perhaps it is a sign that geeks are taking over the world?
